POSTPONED: Wyant Lecture featuring LaToya Ruby Frazier
The 2020 Louise Doherty Wyant '63 Lecture at Emmanuel College featuring LaToya Ruby Frazier has been postponed. A new date will be announced in future.
LaToya Ruby Frazier works in photography, video and performance to build archives that address industrialism, rustbelt revitalization, environmental justice, healthcare inequity, family and communal history. Frazier is currently an Associate Professor of Photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Read her extended bio and view examples of her work: http://www.latoyarubyfrazier.com/about/
For the last 12 years, Frazier has photographed friends, neighbors and family in Braddock, Pennsylvania. But though the steel town has lately been hailed as a posterchild of "rustbelt revitalization," Frazier's pictures tell a different story, of the real impact of inequality and environmental toxicity. In her powerful TED talk, the TED Fellow shares a deeply personal glimpse of an often-unseen world.
